What is a nanny?
One employed by a family on either a live-in or live-out basis to undertake all tasks related to the care of the children. Each nanny position may have slightly different responsibilities depending on the family requirements. A nanny may or may not have any formal nanny training, but usually has a lot of actual experience. Some have college degrees. Most nannies work for 40-60 hours per week. Some higher paid positions require more hours of work. For the most part it is an unsupervised position. Benefits, although not required by law, are usually offered to nannies. When benefits are offered, the employment package is much more attractive to the nanny and may contribute to the longevity of their employment.
